Buddying returners with new staff for training or not?

we have never had a buddy system for training - please explain?
If we did, I would like to buddy new and old, I think it can be good if given the right combination.

Also, frequent small cheap things, I like little things.



Getting policies and all the boring training out of the way in one long dull day, or spreading it out over the pre-camp week to make it more bearable?

We kind did the buddy thing but it was strong, loud people with quiet ones. I was a loud person (no shock there) and was the first to get picked (first time ever!). We worked together for the week to try and balance out the volume/confidence level!

Regular potatoes or sweet potatoes?

Thanks! It has a lot of legends attached which make good stories to tell campers and it's related to Scotland. And it's a lot like me always in the water!

allowing counsellors to choose their own bunks during pre-camp or assigning them thus making sure that returners and newbies are well mixed?

allowing conuslors to choose to a degree-- maybe having a prefrenece sysytem so they can get a chance of getting their first or second choice of bunk. At my new camp we have multiple bunks of the same age group and gender

Platform tents.

Sheets and blankets, or sleeping bag?

sheets and blanket - with sleeping bag unzipped as a quilt for the really cold nights

felt tip pens, color pencils or crayons?

Felt tip pens. Sharpies included. I am pretty sure EVERYONE loves them. And they also include prismacolor and copic markers - and if you know what I am talking about, you know why they are awesome.


video games or board games?

i have no idea what you are talking about - but they sound like the like of thing I would like!

Look them up! They are excellent (thoguh expensive) artist markers. They blend amazingly well, and if you need more blending there are blending markers. They're bright and vivid and just amazing.

Oh they def are the kind of thing I would like!

in the house - slippers, socks or barefeet?

barefeet, I hate things around my feet. camp is hard because of that!

swimsuits:
buy a one piece, or wear a bikini and buy a rash-guard or water shirt to cover the midriff?

neither - boards, sports bra and water shirt!

prepare for your secret buddy by buying random stuff before camp or wait until you know who you have?

I wish I could get away with that! no fair!

I prefer to wait; but I always end up picking things up on my trips for my buddy like keychains/etc from the city. My buddy this year gets stuff from Toronto, Chicago, Kentucky, and California!

White. I know wheat's better for you, but I like soft, fluffy, unhealthy bread apparently.



Dogs or Cats?

cats - much less work!

head light or mini lantern?

Neither? I hate the lights on my head, and lanterns do not project enough light for me... but then again,. I actually prefer to go as much as I can without using a flashlight, as I have pretty decent night vision for a human!
